Cranial Reflexology
Cranial Reflexology is a unique treatment that focuses on the stimulation of specific points on the cranium to encourage overall health and wellbeing. Using gentle pressure, massage and holding techniques, Cranial Reflexology can reduce stress, improve circulation, alleviate tension and stimulate the body’s natural healing processes.
It differs from other cranial therapies in that it is based on a reflexology mapping system on the head. As with other forms of reflexology, each point on the map of the cranium corresponds to a different body organ or system.

The craniosacral system consists of the brain, spinal cord and cerebrospinal fluid and is a vital component of the body’s central nervous system (CNS). The cranial bones are connected by sutures that allow for subtle movements which facilitate the circulation of the cerebrospinal fluid. The membranes (meninges) and cerebrospinal fluid surround and protect the brain and spinal cord, ensuring proper function of the CNS. Any restrictions or imbalances in the meninges can impact the flow of the cerebrospinal fluid leading to dysfunction in the body.
The 12 cranial nerves originating from the brain, also play an important role in the treatment. When these nerves are compressed, their function can be impaired leading to various health issues. Gentle release of compression in the neck and head, together with the reduction of stress can result in an improvement of symptoms.
The treatment begins with palpating the cranial rhythm. This Still Point creates a deep sense of calm, so that imbalances can be felt in the cerebrospinal fluid rhythm. This can facilitate the release of tension and restrictions within the fascia, which may be caused by injury, disease, inflammation, posture or chronic conditions. During this state of balance and deep relaxation, the body can release physical or emotional blockages.
Gentle pressure is then applied to specific reflex points on the cranial area at the top, sides and back of the head to release blockages and restore the body’s natural balance or homeostasis.

Cranial Reflexology can alleviate physical and emotional stress, improve concentration by relieving mental and physical strain and improve mood and alertness.
It can support symptoms of anxiety, trauma, insomnia, headaches and migraines, eye strain, neuralgia, bruxism, temporomandibular joint syndrome, digestive issues, alopecia, chronic pain, complex regional pain syndrome, fibromyalgia, post concussion syndrome, stroke, parkinsons, tourette syndrome, ADHD and autism.
